The Wind

I have a love/hate relationship with a lot of things. One of those things is wind. What? Yes…wind. I like a little bit when I am on a shoot to give some movement to hair, or a veil. But when you get massive amounts of wind, it just makes everything messy and not easy to work.

But, I do love massive amounts of wind when I am at my parent’s house. My Grampa had these metal wind chimes that consisted of about six chimes, about an average of 4 feet in length. Massive for wind chimes…and they need massive amounts of wind to be heard. Because they are so big, they resonate the sound for a couple minutes.

My Grampa lived in Leavenworth about a quarter mile from the Federal Penitentiary. Once he passed, my parents took the big ol’ bells and we hung them from a tree in the back yard. So every time I go to my parents and it is a windy day, it reminds me of my Grampa ;)

I shot a quick video of them from my phone…unfortunately the biggest chime was not struck. It makes a beautiful low note.
