I noticed on The Kansas City Star’s website that the Green Roof is now open. I shot some engagement photos there last weekend when the grass was not cut and I had to gain access through other means. This is a small park on top of Cosentino’s parking lot in downtown Kansas City. The article said it is open now and will soon be open to rent for weddings and events. I imagine brides lining up to use it for their wedding thinking they will be the first to do this…but sorry, Holly + I got married their last year ;)
We went through hell and back to use the Green Roof as our ceremony site since it was not open to the public. It wouldn’t have been so bad if we weren’t trying to plan our wedding in one month’s time…but we were doing a super last minute wedding and had to jump through more hoops than a tiger in a Siegfried & Roy act. It took us two weeks to get the okay from the city to use the space which only gave us 13 days before the wedding to send our invitations…a wedding on a Thursday nonetheless ;) In the end we had a beautiful ceremony at the Green Roof (before it was called the Green Roof) and an awesome reception next door at The Jones Ultra-Lounge & Pool.
Here are some awesome photos that Kdog Photographers took on our wedding day that show the space:
